Public sector and social housing
Local government housing, housing association stock, schools, colleges and NHS estates. Invoiced against a purchase order, phased around the building rather than around us.
Why keys cost more here than anywhere else
We fit and configure door access for local authority housing teams, ALMOs and housing associations, primary and secondary schools, academy trusts and colleges, NHS and health premises, and the council-run buildings around them — libraries, depots, community centres and leisure sites.
A key handed to a contractor is a key nobody can account for afterwards. On a housing estate, a school site or a health building that is not an inconvenience, it is a control that has failed — and the usual remedy, re-keying a whole block after one loss, costs more than the locks did.
Codes and cards can be issued to a person and taken back from that person. That is the whole argument, and it is a stronger one the more doors and the more people are involved.
How the work is actually run
Invoiced against a purchase order. We raise a written quote you can put through procurement, and invoice against the PO number afterwards. No card payment on the day, no chasing a caretaker for a signature.
Phased, not all at once. Blocks, wings or floors in an order that suits the site — term time, void periods, decant programmes. We would rather do twenty doors across four visits that work than eighty in a week that does not.
A record per door. What was fitted, where, which mechanism it went onto, and who holds which credential. Handed over as a document, not left in an installer's phone.
Fire doors treated as a specification question. A fire door's certification depends on what is fitted to it. We say so before quoting rather than after fitting.
Where we are honest about our size
We are a specialist installer, not a national facilities contractor. On a focused programme — one estate, one school, a set of voids — that is an advantage: the people who survey the site are the people who fit and configure it.
On a framework covering hundreds of buildings across several counties, it is a limitation, and we will say so at the first conversation rather than at the point it starts to matter.
- Can you work to a purchase order?
Yes. Written quote first, PO number on the invoice, payment terms to suit your finance team rather than ours.
- Do you carry insurance we can evidence?
£2m public liability, and we will send the certificate with the quote rather than waiting to be asked for it.
- Can access be handed to a management system?
Usually. Most platforms we fit have an API, and we build against those — see the bespoke software page. Where an estate already runs a housing or facilities system, issuing and expiring codes from it is normally possible.
