Yale smart lock fitting
Bought a Yale smart lock, or still deciding which one? We fit them across Greater Manchester and the Northwest, and we check the door suits the lock before anyone books a day.
Fitting only, from £120 · or a lock and fitting from £199
Which Yale lock goes on which door
Conexis L1 and L2. For the uPVC and composite front doors most houses here have, the kind you lock by lifting the handle. The Conexis replaces both handles and the cylinder, and works the multipoint mechanism already inside the door. There is no keyhole on the outside: it opens with a card, a tag or a phone.
Linus. Fits to the inside of the door, over the cylinder, and turns it for you. The outside of the door looks exactly as it did, and the key still works from outside. It needs a cylinder that suits it, which we check and change if needed.
If you are not sure which you have bought, or which to buy, send us the model name and a photo of the door edge with the door open.
What we check before fitting a Conexis
A Conexis is only as good as the mechanism it drives. Before fitting one we lift the handle and turn the key on the door as it is. If either is stiff, the multipoint gearbox is worn or the door has dropped, and a motor forced to fight it wears out quickly. We adjust the door or replace the gearbox first, and price that separately.
Then the measurements: the door's thickness, and the distance between the handle and the cylinder on the existing mechanism, against what Yale's specification asks for.
The L2's Wi-Fi bridge
The L2 comes with a small Wi-Fi bridge that plugs into a socket near the door, and that bridge is what lets you open the door from anywhere. It has to reach both the lock and your router, so we choose its socket with you on the day rather than leave it to chance.
Already have an L1? Yale sells a module and bridge kit that turns it into an L2 without changing the handles. We fit those too.
What it cannot do on a lift-to-lock door
On a door that locks by lifting the handle, somebody has to lift it. The Conexis motor turns the cylinder but cannot lift the handle, so it cannot lock a door that nobody has shut and lifted. That is true of every smart lock on this kind of door, and we go through it at handover so nobody finds out later.
No keyhole outside: cards, tags and phones
With nothing to put a key in, the cards and tags matter. We set up enough for the household, add the phones that need access, and go through what to do on the day the batteries run down, for your model.
- Do you supply the Yale lock?
Usually you buy it and we fit it, or we can buy it for you. Either way we check the door first, so nobody pays for a lock that will not go on.
- Are you connected to Yale?
No. We are independent installers and fit Yale locks among other brands. Yale has no say in our work, and we do not speak for Yale. What we stand behind is the fitting: 12 months on our work.
- Can you fit a Yale lock I bought online?
Yes, as long as it suits the door. See fitting a lock you already own for what to send us first.
Got the model name?
Send it with a photo of the door edge and we will tell you whether it fits before you book.
